Barely five months after the release of their debut album -
8th Mainland Bridge, controversial singer/producer Terry
G has disbanded his five man crew House of Ginjah.
The crew was assembled by Terry and placed under his T.G.P
Productions outfit however; the two parties were never bound by contract
at any time.
According to sources, the increasing responsibility of taking care of
the group’s daily demands and the improper marketing of their debut
album 8th Mainland Bridge may have facilitated the
split. Group members IQ, Rakwell and Prince
Banton will now have to seek solo careers, while Terry’s
younger brother and fifth member of the crew – D’Money will
remain, with T.G.P hoping the R&B singer will blossom in the
future.
However, there are indications that House of Ginjah’s premature
demise might not be unconnected to Terry’s recent signing with Now
Muzik. Speaking immediately after being unveiled alongside Timi
Dakolo by Now Muzik recently, Terry admitted: ‘There comes
a time in someone’s life that you just need to have a change and take
your career to the next level.’
The Benue state indigene then added, ‘I need a higher level of
packaging in my career. I believe in results and I have seen the results
Now Muzik has achieved with people like 2face
and others… I am ready for change.’
